CHARACTER NAME: Tamaki Yotsuba
CANON & HISTORY: IDOLiSH7
His wiki page isn't particularly useful so here's a quick rundown of his history. If you need links to verify any of this information just let me know, and I can link you to the right fan translation.

Until Tamaki was 3, he lived with his parents and baby sister, Aya. According to Tamaki, his dad was a no-good drunk (and is implied to have been abusive), and this eventually led to his mother's collapse from illness and later death. At this point, Tamaki and Aya were placed in a children's home. His father came often to demand his children back, but was denied custody.

Aya got adopted fairly quickly. For awhile, she and Tamaki still saw each other, but at some point, Aya's family fell into extreme debt and disappeared into the night. Tamaki has not seen Aya since, but his main goal is finding her again.

Tamaki learned how to dance from friends, and later from watching videos on the internet (he has a natural talent for it, as well). One day, the president of Takanashi Productions, a talent agency, saw him dancing and scouted him for an idol group he was forming. Tamaki agreed, hoping that he could be on TV if he became an idol and be seen by Aya, who would find him again. So Tamaki became a member of the group IDOLiSH7.

Before the group could officially debut, Tamaki was scouted by a rival production company. In order to keep him from leaving the agency, the president of Takanashi Productions offered to let Tamaki debut with another member, Sougo, as an idol duo, MEZZO". Tamaki was not a dedicated member at first (he was often lazy, and didn't really like Sougo), but when Sougo collapsed from stress-induced stomach ulcers, Tamaki vowed to be a more reliable member.

As both MEZZO" and IDOLiSH7 grew more popular, Tamaki agreed to be part of a reunion show, which was supposed to reunite him with his sister. However, unable to find Aya, the show attempted to reunite Tamaki with his father instead. This sent Tamaki into such a rage that he accidentally struck a producer, and IDOLiSH7 (and MEZZO") was almost forced to disband in the backlash. However, they managed to come back together, smooth things over, and go on to win a prestigious newcomer music award.

Things progressed steadily from there (at least for Tamaki). Though he still had problems with Sougo, he worked to overcome them, and became much more reliable. However, one day he found a particular clover charm among Sougo's things that matched a clover charm he had, and knew it was Aya's. Sougo revealed that he had met Aya twice without Tamaki's knowledge, but didn't tell him because he was worried that Tamaki would quit the group if he found Aya. Tamaki, enraged that someone he trusted would keep such a secret from him, declared that once their current job was over, he'd quit being an idol all together. Ryunosuke, a member of another idol group, managed to talk him out of this, but it took Sougo promising to help him find his sister to bring him around.

The next day, Sougo pulled a stunt on a television show to make it seem like Tamaki was very ill, intended to lure Aya out of hiding. The ruse worked, and Tamaki was finally reunited with Aya. However, he learned Aya has been adopted by a man named Kujou, in exchange for helping her parents' failing business, and he has been training her as an idol ever since. Out of debt to him, she refused to leave, and called Kujou her father and another child adopted by Kujou, named Tenn, her brother. This caused Tamaki to claim Kujou was his sworn enemy, feeling Kujou had taken his only family from him. He vowed to get Aya back and reconciled with Sougo. From there, IDOLiSH7 went on to perform a successful concert in Zero Arena along with idol groups TRIGGER and Re:Vale, contributing to a new idol boom.

AGE: 17
CANON POINT: just before the beginning of Part 3
PERSONALITY: Tamaki has a sort of savant personality, meaning he is naturally very good at certain things (dancing, acrobatics, singing, and rapping, as some examples) but not very good at communicating with people. Tamaki generally speaks in short sentences and uses very vague language, often leading to misunderstandings. For example, when initially asked why he wants to be an idol, Tamaki's answer is that he wants to be on TV; the other members assume he just wants to be famous. Once someone finally asks him why he wants to be on TV, he finally tells the story of how he's trying to find his sister. It's not uncommon for people to have to continually question Tamaki to get the full story out of him, only for him to complain that he already told them once they finally figure it out.

Tamaki is also bluntly honest, even when it would probably be better for him to lie. He will openly tell people what he thinks of them, even if it's likely to hurt their feelings (for example, telling Sougo that he doesn't like him because he's boring), and he'll also tell the truth even if it will likely get him in trouble (he gets so flustered he punches a door, then immediately fesses up to it to his manager, even when the other members tell him not to). Though Tamaki admits that talking about his true, positive feelings about someone to their face is embarrassing, Tamaki will do it when asked, as often happens when other members try to get him and Sougo to get along. Tamaki also tends to take things people say at face value, causing him to be easily manipulated by others. Until someone gives him a reason to believe they were lying, he will take what they say as the truth. This causes him to be deceived several times; a classic example is when a girl lies to him about knowing his sister in a ploy to lure him into kissing her. He doesn't suspect her of lying until she asks him to kiss her and call her his girlfriend on television.

Tamaki gets angry easily, and this is later acknowledged to be a behavior Tamaki learned due to his childhood. Tamaki gets angry to draw attention to himself when he feels like something is wrong or when he needs help, because he feels like he'll be ignored if he just asks. This does often lead to conflict, however, and is something that Sougo and the rest of IDOLiSH7 are attempting to train him out of, and he has become less quick to anger as time goes on. Because of this tendency, he gained a reputation for being violent among production staff, who often spread rumors that he would hurt someone if angered, and Tamaki has had to work very hard to reverse this image of himself.

Tamaki was also not previously used to people caring about whether he was doing a good job in school or making something of himself, so he became very lazy and was often lax in his responsibilities. He would often be late, sometimes missing work entirely, which contributed to Sougo becoming sick from stress, something Tamaki blamed himself for. Since joining IDOLiSH7, he's learned what it feels like to have people who want him to do his best and who face consequences if he doesn't do his job, and he's come to learn that he likes doing a good job for their benefit and being praised for his work. Though he can still be very lazy in his free time, he's become much more reliable when it comes to his work as an idol.

Despite looking and sometimes acting like a hooligan, Tamaki is very caring towards those he considers friends, in a way that is often described as "older brother-like" by the other members. He's taken care of Sougo both when Sougo was sick and when Sougo was drunk off his ass (the latter being a fairly common occurrence), and has stood watch over other members when they've been sick or upset. He's also leapt to physically defend his friends when he thinks they are in trouble (although sometimes they aren't). Tamaki often refers to himself as being selfish, because he thought being selfish was the only way to defend himself against people like his father, but he is actually very giving when it comes to making sure his friends are happy and healthy. Tamaki himself fears that he'll one day become as callous and uncaring as his father, and generally believes himself to be a bad person, but his friends will be the first to say that he is actually very kind, and a good kid.
POWERS: None in particular.
OTHER: Tamaki is obsessed with a pudding brand called "Ousama Pudding" (or King's Pudding), and likes sweet things in general. He also is deathly afraid of ghosts. He makes up nicknames for everyone he gets to know, and will sometimes avoid saying someone's name until he lands on the perfect nickname.

GAME INFO;

MAGIC ABILITY: The ability to heal minor illnesses. I'm using "minor" here to mean simple bacterial or viral illnesses, like the flu; nothing chronic or complex like cancer.
PRICE: The clover charm made by his mother, which matches the one his sister had.
ACCLIMATION: 5. Tamaki is a normal person who has never witnessed anything magical before, and it will probably take some time for him to fully understand his new situation. He's also not very good at survival in the wilderness, being a born and bred city kid. However, he is fairly used to meeting and getting to know new people and adapting to new situations, and while he loves his friends he's not fully dependent on them, so he should be able to lean on others if needed.
